Ranking Every RHOBH Opening Credits Look — Forensically

The opening credits are the only moment a Housewife has complete creative control. The Heiress has been reading them forensically since Season 1. Beverly Hills is where we begin.

The opening credits are the only moment in the franchise where a Housewife has complete creative control.

The producers choose the footage. The editors choose the music. The network chooses the airdate. But the opening credits look — the dress, the location, the expression, the tagline that she wrote or approved or was handed and decided to own — that is hers. Every choice in those three seconds communicates something she has decided, deliberately, to communicate.

The Heiress has been reading them forensically since Season 1.

Beverly Hills is the correct franchise to begin with because it has produced, across fifteen seasons, the most considered opening credits in the canon. The women of RHOBH understand that this is an image business. They approach the credits accordingly.

The Forensic Readings

Lisa Vanderpump — Seasons 1–9
Pink. Always pink. The dress, the garden, the light — all of it calibrated to a palette she had decided on before the cameras arrived and has not reconsidered since. The Modern Matriarch’s opening credits do not change because the Modern Matriarch does not change. This is the point. Consistency is the brand. The brand is the empire.

Yolanda Hadid — Seasons 3–6
White or bone. The beach. A specific kind of diffused Malibu light that makes everything look expensive and slightly melancholy. No statement jewellery. No color. The Sovereign Minimalist credits communicate the same thing the Sovereign Minimalist always communicates: I have edited this down to its essential elements and what remains is correct.

Erika Jayne — Seasons 6–12
The evolution is the story. Season 6 Erika: the sequined bodysuit, the dancer, the alter ego at full volume. By Season 11: black suiting, direct gaze, no performance. The Dark Feminine’s opening credits across those seasons document, in three-second increments, a woman dismantling her own image in real time. The Heiress watched this as it happened and found it the most interesting fashion narrative in recent franchise history.

Kyle Richards — Seasons 1–14
The most documented evolution in the series. Season 1 Kyle: structured, appropriate, the Bel-Air wife in the correct dress. Season 14 Kyle: something considerably looser and more interesting. The credits chart a woman who has been on television long enough to stop dressing for it. The Modern Matriarch who arrives and the woman who remains fourteen seasons later are dressed differently because they are, in several meaningful ways, different women.

Dorit Kemsley — Seasons 7–present
The most fashion-forward credits in the franchise. Dorit arrives each season in something that either just happened on a runway or has not yet happened on one — the credits are a preview of where she is taking her aesthetic that year. The Euro Summer Chic woman uses her credits as a mood board for the season to come. The Heiress reviews them accordingly.

Sutton Stracke — Seasons 10–present
The only woman in the franchise who has worn something in her opening credits that the Heiress was unable to immediately identify. This is, in the Heiress’s taxonomy, the highest possible compliment. The Old Money Equestrian with serious fashion knowledge selects pieces that reward close attention. Sutton’s credits reward very close attention.

Garcelle Beauvais — Seasons 10–present
Effortless in the way that requires enormous effort — the specific quality of someone who has been beautiful for a very long time and has stopped thinking about it, which paradoxically makes the thinking invisible. The Sovereign Minimalist credits communicate: grown, unhurried, already here before you arrived.

The Rule the Heiress Has Derived

A Housewife’s first season opening credits tell you who she wants to be. Her fifth season credits tell you who she is. The gap between the two is the most interesting thing about her.

The woman whose credits don’t change has decided who she is and sees no reason to negotiate. The woman whose credits evolve is still in conversation with herself about the answer. Both are instructive. The Heiress reads both.
