The voice still quavers. The hands still flutter. But the eyes have sharpened. There is a woman behind the Valentino now who has decided, with some deliberateness, that she is done softening her observations to protect the feelings of people who have not earned that consideration.
The Estate Appraisal
Sutton @ The Grove—the boutique—remains her most legible asset: expensive, eclectic, slightly overwhelming, and staffed by the ambient tension of a woman who cares too much. Her domain is Southern Money transplanted to the West Coast, old Augusta manners colliding with Beverly Hills drama, and the result has always been a woman who apologizes while telling you exactly what she thinks of you. This season, she kept the apology but sharpened the tell. The difference is architectural—same exterior, reinforced load-bearing walls. She spent less time performing diplomacy for a group that was not performing it in return, and more time auditing which friendships were genuine construction versus decorative facade. The findings were not flattering to everyone involved.
