The Entrance
Juliet Mayhew enters a room already bracing for impact, which is a reasonable posture for a woman the group has decided to accuse of insincerity and social climbing before the cameras have properly warmed up. The singing career is back, the business ventures are expanding, and the reputation is somehow shrinking in inverse proportion to her actual achievements. She leans on Nessie the way one leans on a single reliable pillar in a house that is otherwise entirely load-bearing walls of gossip.
The Estate Appraisal
A revival act is a delicate thing — half nostalgia, half proof of continued relevance — and Juliet performs hers with more conviction than the group affords her credit for. The old wounds reopening on schedule this season suggests London’s memory is longer than its patience. One does not get to reinvent oneself while a cast of seven insists on excavating the original.
The Verdict
A woman who refuses to stay silent in a group built on selective memory is either the season’s most necessary voice or its most exhausting one. I have not yet decided. I suspect she hasn’t either — and that, darling, is the most honest thing about her.
